Early life

Walter was born in 1944 or 1945. ("Trust Me")

Around 1955/1956, when Walter was 11, his father showed him a picture of Emmett Till in Jet magazine. Walter never forgot that picture, saying it was "burned into [his] mind". ("Listen")

At some point between 1955 and 1973, Walter served as a soldier during the Vietnam War. ("Listen")

After he came back home, Walter married his wife Renee in 1973/1974. ("Redefine")

When Rome decided to study at a film school, Walter was not thrilled, and judged his son a lot for this choice. ("Grand Canyon")

Season 2

Walter and Renée arrives for dinner to celebrate their 50th year anniversary. They are joined by their son of Rome Howard and his wife Regina Howard at her restaurant. Walter finally gives her the Alaskan cruise she has always wanted. He then informs her, that once the cruise is over he never wants to hear about it again. She is very upset by this and leaves the table. Regina finds him, and the two talk about it in the kitchen. Where he confirms he is only doing this for his wife, and will not apologize for what he said. Later that night he is dressed in full military uniform and finally does apologize to her. ("Austin")
