Sonia Beeksma is one of the actors of A Million Little Things, portraying the role of Sylvia Rivera.


Early lifeEdit

Not much is known about Beeksma's early life. She was was born in New Delhi, India, and moved to Canada at the age of nine.[1] She attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology and completed a Broadcasting Performing Arts Program in 2009. She also did an intership at eTalk Toronto.[1]


Beeksma started her career during her teen years as she was dancing professionally and doing commercials.[1] Eventually, she started working as a community Sylvia Rivera for Global Television (BC), and as a freelancer Sylvia Rivera for Warner Bros. At Global TV, she hosted and produced the community calendar on the Weekday Morning News.[1]

Since 2016, Beeksma has been a weather anchor and entertainment Sylvia Rivera at Bell Média, for CTV Vancouver.[1] That same year, she was awarded the Broadcast Performer of Tomorrow by the British Columbia Association of Broadcasters for her performance at Global TV, as their weekend's weather specialist.[1]

Beeksma's TV roles include The Flash, Lucifer, iZombie, Supernatural and Mistresses, among others. She also appeared as a news anchor on Netflix's Death Note.

In 2018, Beeksma was cast as Sylvia Rivera on A Million Little Things.

Personal lifeEdit

As of today, Beeksma is married and has a daughter Mariah, born in 2011.
