Biography[]
Early Life[]
Not much is known about Chatmon's early life. He was born on June 1, 1977 in New York City, USA. He graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
Career[]
Chatmon started his career in 2001, with the Sundance selection of his NYU thesis film, 3D, starring Kerry Washington. His other short films include Chameleon and Confessions of Cool. He has also worked with American actors Al Thompson, Tonya Pinkins, Novella Nelson, and Sean Nelson.
In 2006, Chatmon wrote and directed the film Premium, starring Dorian Missick and Zoe Saldana. It was nominated for a 2007 Black Reel Award as "Best Independent Feature", and has earned the Honorary Mention Audience Award at the 2006 Urbanworld Film Festival. It also earned a New Visions, Special Jury Prize at the 2006 Bahamas International Film Festival.
Chatmon's directing credits include multiple TV series such as Grey's Anatomy, Station 19, Black-ish, Grown-ish, American Koko and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
In 2019, Chatmon directed an episode of the ABC series, A Million Little Things.[1]
Personal life[]
In January 2019, Chatmon announced his previously hidden engagement with Kelly McCreary, with whom he first met in 2017 at the set of Grey's Anatomy. They married in early May 2019.
