Kapital Entertainment is a production company which co-produced ABC's A Million Little Things, with ABC Studios.
History[]
Kapital Entertainment was founded by Aaron Kaplan in 2009. Since its launch, the independent production company has quickly emerged as a prolific developer and producer of scripted programming. During these years, the company has produced 45 pilots, with 20 ordered to series, one of the best batting averages in the business.[1]
Kapital also had two pod deals; one in 2014 with development executive Tracy Katsky via KatCo, and the other in 2016 with former longtime head of comedy at CBS Wendi Trilling to launch TrillTV. Both pods were based at Kapital's offices in West Hollywood.
In February 2017, Kapital Entertainment and CBS Corporation announced a strategic partnership. As part of the agreement, CBS Corporation acquired an ownership stake in Kapital and provided co-financing for Kapital to invest in its future programming and serve as its worldwide distributor. 9JKL was the first series to come out of this joint venture.[1] However, Kapital continued to operate as it had previously, and stayed completely separate from CBS Television Studios and CBS Television Network, without no first-look or any other agreements with any of them.
The studio's hits included Terra Nova, Life in Pieces, The Mysteries of Laura, Santa Clarita Diet and American Housewife, among others.
In 2018, Kapital Entertainment started co-producing the series A Million Little Things for ABC.[2]
