Not much is known about Lamar's early life.

Career

Lamar started her television career as a post-production assistant and supervisor. She then worked as a producer on The X Files, CSI: Miami, Dark Angel, Jane the Virgin, The Normal Heart and Emily Owens M.D., among others.

In 2006, Lamar made her directorial debut while she was working on CSI: Miami. Until 2011, she directed 15 more episodes of the series. Her other directing credits include Jane the Virgin, BH90210, The CW's Charmed, Dynasty and Diary of a Future President.

In 2021, Lamar directed her first episode of the ABC series, A Million Little Things.
