"Austin" is the fifth episode of Season 2 of ABC's A Million Little Things. It was written by DJ Nash & Michelle Leibel, and directed by Eric Laneuville. It is the twenty-second episode of the series overall, and premiered on October 24, 2019.

Summary[]

Delilah makes arrangements for a family photo shoot with longtime photographer Seymour, but Danny struggles to accept that this new family does not include his father. Meanwhile, Rome and Regina make big plans to celebrate Rome's parents' 50th wedding anniversary and are forced to take a closer look at their own marital woes; Eddie and Katherine look for a fresh start; and Gary feels disconnected from Maggie.[2]

Plot[]

Eddie and Katherine are tucking their son's Theo into bed when he demands they lookup a dinosaur fact. Unbeknown to Katherine, Eddie sees her search history for Austin, Texas. He is upset about this and the next day confronts her about it. Katie admits she does want to move there, but she wants all of them to come with her because she wants a fresh start. Wanting to make her feel better Eddie takes her to an open house. They give each other new identities, before hooking up in the walk-in closet. Later that night, Theo asks if they are ever going to have more kids because he wants a sister, and they both confirmed they will not.

Gary is getting ready for the morning when he scares Maggie, not realizing she was listening to her music. He asks her to come with him to the support group but she declines. At the support group, he wonders why she didn't want to come, and they tell him it's because she's trying to move on with her life. Meanwhile, Maggie is still upset about the possible interaction she had with her dead brother, Chad Bloom through the psychic reader. She ends up at Eric's music store where she cries in his arms. The two talk, and Maggie decides to get back into music. That night she goes to an open mic, and unbeknown to her, Gary come to surprises her, but leaves soon after.

Regina meets Rome and his work, and after realizing he had set up a car commercial off an argument they had she is upset. He later calls a truce for his parent's anniversary. When his dad gives his mom the Alaskan cruise she always wanted, however, upsets her by adding once the trip is over he never wants to hear about it again. They get into a fight and neither is willing to apologize. When it looks like Renee will be spending the night, his dad arrives in full military uniform to apologize. That night while getting ready for bed, they both decide to have a serious conversation about what they want in the future.

Delilah is trying to organize photos to celebrate the birth of Charlotte Dixon. Seymour agrees to come over into the photos last minute once he finds out Jon is dead. While trying to keep the kids organized, Daniel Dixon is upset over his missing wallet, much to Sophie's annoyance. Someone knocks at the door and returns the wallet that had John's identification inside. Daniel is still upset and runs to his room. After having a conversation with Maggie, Delilah decides to start a new tradition. She calls up all her friends who agree to drop everything for a group photo.
