Early life[]
Not much is known about Hay's early life.
She was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. She lost her mother when she was eleven. Then, her father - who worked as travelling salesman - moved with her to various parts of Canada, including Manitoba, Ontario and British Columbia.[1]
Career[]
Hay started her her acting career with theatre productions in Manitoba, Quebec, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.[1] She also worked in television and radio commercial advertising, becoming a commercial writer.[1] In Winnipeg, she directed a couple of shows; one for the Winnipeg Fringe, and co-directed another for the Prairie Theatre Exchange.[1] For six years, she worked with an improv theatre company, and also produced a live improv radio show for the CBC.[1]
After she moved to Vancouver, Hay landed a four-season stint as the stand-in for Gillian Anderson on The X-Files. This was followed by a series of stand-in roles for other actresses including Michelle Williams, Sarah Jessica Parker, Mira Sorvino, Julia Stewart or Lynda Boyd.[1]
Hay's first acting TV role was on The Challengers in 1991. From that point, she appeared on multiple TV series like The X-Files, Mistresses, Bates Motel or Somewhere Between.
In 2018, Hay was cast as Eileen on A Million Little Things.[2]
