Ashley Sims is a writer of ABC's A Million Little Things.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Not much is known about Sims' early life. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia.[1]

From 2003 to 2007, she attended the University of Georgia, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, Telecommunication Arts & Film Studies.[2] Then, in 2012, she started attending the New York University. Two years later, she earned a master's degree in Dramatic Writing, Television.[2] She also studied sketch writing at the UCB Theatre in New York.[1]

Career[]

Sims started her career in 2007 as an intern for Gerber Pictures, where she provided administrative support, script coverage and researched talent and production staff for features in development.[2] From 2008 to 2010, she worked as an administratrive assistant for Southeast Graphics.[2] After she moved to New York, Sims worked as the assistant of Judith Ripka, a jewelry designer, from April 2011 to August 2012.[2] During that year, she also contributed to Nerve.com and SeeFlik.com.[2] From September to December 2013, she was a Talent & Communications intern for BBC America.[2]

Sims earned her MFA from Tisch in 2014, where she received the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Award for Screenwriting with her one-hour pilot The Manhattan Project, which allowed her to move to Los Angeles.[1] Then, she worked as a writer and producer at Herzog's Heroes. Under her direction, her staff produced a pilot which entered into the 2014 New York Television Festival.[2]

In 2015, Sims also worked five months at Pitch 5 Productions,[2] and was part of the production staff for three episodes of America's Funniest Home Videos. That year, she was also named a Lifetime Writer's Project Fellow for her TV pilot Parish.[2]

Sims is mainly known for her work on Lifetime's UnREAL. In July 2014, she started working as a writers' PA for the series' first season. In April 2016, during the production of the second season, she was promoted to script coordinator. In 2017, she became a writer for the series' fourth and final season, and worked on two episodes of the season.[2]

In 2018, Sims wrote an episode of ABC's A Million Little Things.[3]

Personal life[]

In 2018, Sims became engaged to Los Angeles-based photographer Chris A. Dorsey.[4]
